The exciting journey to Kinnaur starts from Shimla, then crossing beautiful valleys of Kufri, Narkanda and Rampur. At Narkanda it might be chilly and cold so keep your woolens with you for sure. If you are visiting in winters you might experience a little snowfall too. But the actual thrill of this journey starts after reaching Sarahan. It takes 6 hours from Shimla to reach Sarahan. Located at an elevation of 2,100 m Sarahan is a small village dedicated to the mother goddess Bhimakali. Bhimakali temple is well carved on wood and the doors are made from Silver. After taking the blessings you can enjoy a treat at local dhabas around the temple. You can also enjoy a walk around apple orchards. Moving on from Sarahan you will be travelling side by side to Satluj river on your way to Sangla. The beauty of Sangla valley will take your happiness to the next level. Carved out by Baspa river, Sangla is a combination of small villages and rocky mountains. At Kinnaur you will see the brotherly fusion of two cultures i.e. Hinduism and Buddhism. The dialect spoken in Chitkul is a mix of Kinnauri and Hindi. The last village on this route is Chitkul. Sangla Valley ends at Chitkul Village at an elevation of 3,475m. There you can enjoy endless hours of sunbathing on the riverbank. The absolute peace will touch your soul. Must visit places are Kamru Village and Kamru Fort, Rakchham Village and Chitkul.
The next hop on this charming tour will be Kalpa via Karcham located at an elevations of 2,960 m. At Kalpa you can enjoy the tremendous views of Kinner Kailash and accompanying mountain ranges. These amazing snow capped mountain ranges will never let you put your camera in your backpack and you will never ever get tired of taking snaps. One would never imagine of such a big market at Reckongpeo. Vibrant blue sky and sparkling snow peaks will leave your soul satisfied. You will be amazed to see how people have adapted themselves according to the natural circumstances and to the modern world.

Some other amazing places near Kalpa is Suicide, Roghi village, Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar monastery and Narayan-Nagini Temple. If you are up for trekking then Kinner Kailash is a must visit for you. You can complete it in 2-3 Days with the help of a local guide. But trek remains open only between the month of July and August.
